A unified platform for Ichi indigenes abroad to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the development of Ichi town in Anambra State, Nigeria.
Ichi is a town in Anambra State, Nigeria. It is located about 13 miles southeast of Onitsha metropolis and has a population of about 67,000 people. Geographically, Ichi is in the tropical rainforest region of West Africa. Consequently, Ichi suffers from soil erosion and other ecological disasters. Ichi people are proud farmers, traders, industrialists and academicians. With rapid urbanization, Ichi has become a prominent town in Anambra state where many Nigerians and foreigners proudly live in peace with the natives of Ichi.
Ndi Ichi in Diaspora (NIID) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Oregon, USA, dedicated to fostering unity among Ichi indigenes living abroad and supporting the development of Ichi town in Anambra State, Nigeria. Founded in 2000 in response to the hardships faced by Ichi residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, NIID provides a platform for Ichi natives in the USA, Canada, and Europe to connect, share ideas, and collaborate on initiatives aimed at improving their hometown. Through monthly virtual meetings, members discuss and implement effective solutions to address various challenges in Ichi, striving to be exemplary ambassadors of their heritage while contributing meaningfully to their community's progress.
